We are excited to introduce our Institute Internship Programme 2026 (iINT-'26), designed to engage and inspire both undergraduate and postgraduate sfudents in the exciting realms of research and innovation.
This unique prograrnme offers a flexible duration of four to eight weeks, allowing you to immerse yourself in a collaborative research environment. You have the choice to join us in person at the IIIT Kottayam campus for two weeks or to work remotely from a location of your preference.
Mentorship: Work closely with experienced mentors who are driven by a passion for innovation and research.
Interdisciplinary Research: Explore new ideas and delve into interdisciplinary research projects that push the boundaries of knowledge.

This internship is open to all students currently enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the following disciplines, not limited to:
Programme Fee: ₹5000/- (Rupees Five Thousand only)..
Payment must be made ONLINE only.
Fee once paid will not be refunded.
The student must be ready with the following documents before initiating the registration process.
Curriculum Vitae/Resume of the student.
Consent from the Mentor of IIIT Kottayam – Follow the procedure given below to obtain the Consent Form.
Step 1: Students shall select a mentor from among the faculties working in the same area of interest and contact them through e-mail given in the Faculty ProfileInternship Fee Payment Receipt – after payment via SBI Fee Collect.
Bonafide Certificate and NoC from the Institute where the student is undergoing the current course, in the prescribed format.

Step 1: Register online through https://internship.iiitkottayam.ac.in/
Step 2: Click on the “Register” button, and enter the details of the Intern.
Step 3: Once the registration is complete, a verification e-mail will be sent to the registered e-mail. Click on the link provided in the email. The page will be automatically redirected to the login page. The Intern may login using the login credentials.
Step 4: : Enter the details asked on the forms and upload all the necessary documents and then click on Final Submit. You will get an application confirmation email with Application Number.
Applicants can pay the fee through SBI Collect by following the steps below:
Goto https://www.onlinesbi.sbi/sbicollect/icollecthome.htm Select: State -> Kerala, Type of Institution -> Educational Institution, Institution name -> IIIT Kottayam, Payment Category -> Institute Internship Fee
After payment, note down the transaction number(DU Number) and save the receipt as a pdf document. You will need to enter the transaction number(DU Number) during your application submission process.

Who is eligible to apply for the Internship Program?
Ans: All undergraduate and postgraduate students currently enrolled in courses in Engineering,Computer Applications, Mathematics, Physics and Management are eligible to apply.
Can students from Arts or Science backgrounds apply?
Ans: Yes, students from Arts or Science backgrounds may apply as long as they are interested in interdisciplinary research, and have sufficient pre-requisite knowledge for the selected area.
How do I find a mentor from IIIT Kottayam?
Ans: To find a mentor, first identify your area of research interest. Then, choose faculty members who work in that area by consulting the faculty profile list on the Institute's website. You can contact the faculty via the email address or phone number provided.
Can I contact more than one faculty mentor?
Ans: Yes, you may contact multiple faculty members. However, please inform the other faculty members once you receive consent from one of them.
Should I get both the Bonafide Certificate and the NoC from my college/university?
Ans: Yes, it is mandatory to submit both the Bonafide Certificate and the NoC in the prescribed format.
Is there a shortlisting process after the registration is completed?
Ans: No, there is no shortlisting after the registration is completed. Once you have paid the registration fee and uploaded the mandatory documents, including the fee receipt and the consent form signed by your mentor, your registration process will be complete. You will receive an onboarding email before the official start of the internship.
Is it mandatory to submit the Joining Report?
Ans: Yes, along with the onboarding email, the intern will receive a Joining Report. The intern should discuss the start date of the internship with their mentor. The Joining Report should be signed by the mentor and emailed to academics2@iiitkottayam.ac.in.
What is the procedure for availing an offline internship?
Ans: Please discuss your preferred start date for the offline internship with your mentor. Before you arrive at the institute, confirm the availability of the hostel facility with the internship team through your mentor. Make sure to communicate your arrival date to internship@iiitkottayam.ac.in.
Is it mandatory to avail hostel facility during the offline internship?
Ans: No, provided the intern is staying in the close vicinity of the Institute.
Is it necessary to use the mess facility if I avail of the hostel facility?
Ans: Yes, it is mandatory to use both the hostel and mess facilities. Payments for both facilities should be made upon arrival at the institute campus.
What is the hostel accommodation like?
Ans: Interns will be provided with in-house accommodation options, which may be single or shared, upon making the necessary payment.
What is the duration of the Internship programme?
Ans: The duration of the Internship is four to eight weeks.
What is the duration of the offline mode?
Ans: The offline internship lasts for two weeks. No extensions will be granted. Please note that the offline mode is available only from May to mid-July.
What will be the process for grievance redressal, if any?
Ans: The matter will be referred to the respective faculty mentor and FIC – Institute Grievance Committee. The decision of the Institution authority/grievance committee will be final and binding on the interns.
Will I be awarded a certificate once the internship is complete?
Ans: An E-certificate will be awarded upon successful submission and approval of the Internship Report by the mentor.
